GAIL (India) Ltd, which has entered into a tie-up with China Gas Holding Ltd, plans to expand its business interests in the hydrocarbon sector in China, India as well as third countries as part of its globalisation drive, company officials said.
"We are hoping to expand our operations in China after entering into a tie-up with CGHL and have identified a number of projects apart from implementing the ongoing ones," Rabi Gayen, deputy general manager (business development), said.
He said that with active support from the ministry of petroleum and natural gas, GAIL is in the process of holding talks with major Chinese hydrocarbon players for a range of activities as part of the country's efforts to ensure energy security.
GAIL plans to participate in a Beijing Gas Corporation joint venture for compressed natural gas projects in Beijing city, which is getting ready to host the 2008 Olympics, he said.
GAIL, one of the major participants among the Indian hydrocarbon sector at the 'Made in India' show organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry in Shanghai in the eastern metropolis, is also planning joint participation in setting up liquid nitrogen gas (LNG) terminal in China, R D Goyal, general manager (O&M) of GAIL complex, Vijaipur in Madhya Pradesh, said.
