Upbeat about developing warmth in Indo-Pak relations, Apollo Health and Lifestyle is eyeing Pakistan to spread its network of clinics there.
"We have received three-four enquiries. We had been conservative in our approach so far, but with these developments, we can hope to become aggressive," Ratan Jalan, chief executive officer, Apollo Health, said after signing an agreement with StarCare Health System for setting up 8-10 clinics in Bangladesh.
Targeting a turnover of Rs 1,000 crore (Rs 10 billion) in the next two years, the company is planning to take the number of its clinics from the current level of 25 to 200 by 2006.
In addition, Apollo is also setting up clinics in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Nigeria, while it is in the advanced stages of negotiations for foray into Yemen and Qatar, Jalan told reporters in New Delhi on Thursday.
"There exists an overwhelming need for a strong primary healthcare backbone in many countries in Asia and Africa," Jalan said.
He said the company had also received a few enquiries from Singapore and was working on them.
Apollo Health is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Chennai-based Apollo Hospitals Group.
