Jet's Mumbai-San Francisco flight from May 5

April 03, 2008 19:15 IST

Jet Airways on Thursday announced a series of overseas flights from various destinations in the country, including a Mumbai-San Francisco flight via Shanghai.

The Mumbai-San Francisco flight via Shanghai will be launched from May 5.

"The Chinese government has never allowed a third party to operate to the US out of China. This is for the first time that our government negotiated with them to do so. We hope to get the permission from China soon," Jet Airways Chairman Naresh Goyal told reporters.

With the launch of San Francisco flight from May 5, Jet Airways would become the first private carrier to operate a non-stop daily flight to Shanghai from country's financial hub of Mumbai and onwards to San Francisco.

In addition, direct flights from Mumbai to Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi and Muscat would also be launched this month, Goyal said.

Jet would provide world-class facilities to woo Chinese traffic to both the US and India, he said.

The airline also plans to launch a flight between New Delhi and Abu Dhabi and another between Kochi and Doha, he added, which are also scheduled for launch this month.
