Indrani and Peter Mukerjea, promoters of INX Media Pvt. Ltd, have stepped down from their current management positions at the broadcasting company that operates Hindi General Entertainment channel 9X and music channel 9XM.

Indrani Mukerjea was the founder and chief executive officer while Peter Mukerjea was chairman and chief strategy officer.

They set up INX Media three years ago after Mukerjea resigned as Star India CEO. According to a press release issued by the company, they will continue to be shareholders in the broadcasting company.

Surprisingly, while 9XM, turned out to be the number one music channel in the country, 9X did not cut ice with viewers. Some months earlier, INX Networks' news division, INX News, was sold to Indi Media. Meanwhile, INX investors have roped in industry veteran Pradeep Guha as a consultant.

"I am not the (new) CEO of INX Media, only an external consultant for a limited period of one to two months for the investors," Guha told Business Standard. In fact, Peter and Indrani Mukerjea's resignations come within a month of Kunal Dasgupta resigning as CEO of Multi Screen Media (owner of Sony).
