At a time when migrant workers from Bihar are under violent attacks in several states in their own country, a Mauritian firm has sent a proposal to the Bihar government seeking services of 500 ITI-trained hands.

Filcon Cavra Limited, a company based in Mauritius, has sought the services of 500 youth with technical training from our state, deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, who holds the Labour portfolio said on Tuesday.

The proposal which follows Mauritian Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam's visit to Bihar last month, the land of his forefathers, has been sent to the government by company joint managing director Philipo Sinti, Modi said.

Ramgoolam had said during his visit that Mauritius was facing acute shortage of skilled professionals and had sought state government's cooperation in meeting it.

In the first phase, 250 persons would be appointed on positions like block layer, tiller, plaster form worker, carpenter, steel fixer and labour chief, the minister said adding the rest would be appointed in the second phase.
