The government on Thursday decided to act tough on the casinos, credit cards and money changers by bringing them under the ambit of money laundering law.

The Union Cabinet decided to bring a new bill in Parliament to amend the Prevention of Money Laundering Act enlarging its scope.

The new bill will provide for bringing money transfer service providers, international payment gateways such as Visa and MasterCard and casinos under the reporting regime.

"The Amendment Bill will enable the government of India to meet certain domestic needs and international obligations," Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi said after the Cabinet meeting.
