Mukesh Ambani meets PM, to call on Sonia too

Even as speculation has been rife that with the Samajwadi Party's rapprochement with the United Progressive Alliance government would affect him adversely due to his younger brother Anil Ambani's close ties with Amar Singh, Mukesh Ambani, chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries Ltd [Get Quote], on Monday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Details of what transpired in the meeting between the richest Indian and the prime minister were not immediately available.

Mukesh Ambani is also scheduled to meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi at 7.00 p.m. on Monday. Before that he will meet with the prime minsiter's principal secretary TKA Nair at 4.00 p.m., and Petroleum Minister Mulri Deora at 5.00 p.m.

Mukesh Ambani's RIL and Anil Ambani's RCom have been involved in a tussle over the South African cellphone major MTN.
