India Interactive Technologies on Thursday launched a GPRS-based software technology, which will allow users to book rail and air tickets, make utility bill payments and others through their mobile phones.

Besides these services, software --MeriMobi -- would provide information on news, stock markets and yellow pages, IITL Business Head Rajeev Mishra said.

"MeriMobi is an intuitive, intelligent and trusted application for any GPRS active mobile phone. It provides a unique blend of transaction, information and entertainment services under one roof," he said.

Research shows that out of 278 million mobile phone users in India, around 20 million users have GPRS-active cellphones.

MeriMobi can be downloaded for free across all GSM operators and is compatible to more than 500 handsets. The application is backed by technology of the Pitroda Group LLC (USA).
