In what could be a relief to mobile operators and lakhs of subscribers, the government on Friday said the security issue related to Blackberry services would be resolved within a week.

"Most of the security issues have been resolved to the satisfaction of the security agencies," Telecom Minister A Raja said.

Asked whether Research-in-Motion, the vendor of Blackberry services, has agreed to place the server in India, the minister refused to divulge the details.

There are about four lakh subscribers of Blackberry services offered by Bharti Airtel [Get Quote], Vodafone, Reliance [Get Quote] and BPL Communications.

The Department of Telecom (DoT) and officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs have held a series of meetings with RIM to sort out the issue, he said adding "It is almost coming to an end and the issue will be resolved within next one week."
