The Karnataka government signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday with Microsoft India to usher in 'paperless office' by introducing e-governance in various departments of the state government.
Letters of Intent outlining the terms of the agreement were exchanged between the two parties, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy told reporters on Monday.
A pilot project on paperless functioning which had been initiated in the IT-BT department of the state government was expected to be completed by next week, he said.
The project would be extended to other departments subsequent to the completion in the IT-BT department.
There would be no financial cost involved in implementation of the project, he said.
