At a time when exporters and IT companies are worried about the Rupee getting stronger against the US Dollar, subsequently "affecting business", Shiv Nadar, founder of software and hardware major HCL [Get Quote] said things are doing fine.

He said the appreciation of the Indian Rupee was in no way affecting the IT business.

"The industry is indeed doing fine. Being a new industry it will grow with imperfections," he said while responding to a query whether the trend had any impact on the industry, especially HCL.

The IT industry was only a decade-old, according to the former chairman and now chief strategies officer of HCL, and therefore he termed it as a new industry.

"The growth started just around 1997-98," he said. Asked whether HCL had any plans of manufacturing low-cost computers, Nadar said he was not aware of any such plans.
