Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh emphasised on Thursday job creation potential of foreign investors operating their plants in the state saying his government was equally concerned with employment aspect just as the volume of investment.

"When land is acquired for an industrial unit, at least one person in the affected family should be given job to avoid discontent as a result of acquisition," he said at the foundation stone laying ceremony of Daimlarchryster India's new production plant at Chakan near Pune.

The Rs 275 crore (Rs 2.75 billion) plant, spread across 100 acres of land is expected to become operational from 2009 with an annual production capacity of 5000 Mercedes-Benz cars.
