Sensex zooms 269 points at close

After five consecutive fall, markets bounces back smartly and ended up with significant gain. All BSE sectoral indices ended in green on the back of heavy buying seen across the sectors. FMCG, consumer durable, auto and IT were the most focussed stocks today on the bourses.

The Sensex closed up 268.55 points or 2.01% at 13630.71, and the Nifty ended up 91.95 points or 2.39% at 3942.25.

About 1725 shares have advanced, 874 shares declined, and 49 shares are unchanged.

During the intraday trade Sensex moved up 300 points.

Wipro, Reliance Comm, HLL, Bharti Airtel, Jet Airways and NALCO were top gainers on the indices.

HDFC, Grasim, HDFC Bank, GAIL, Oriental Bank, Zee Entertain and PNB were top losers on the indices.

The BSE Auto index was up 1.94% or 105.95 points at 5555.42.

The BSE Bankex ended up 1.01% or 69.14 points at 6913.85.

The Consumer Duralbes index was up 2.67% or 98.89 points at 3797.84.

The Capital Goods index was up 1.59% or 139.50 points at 8928.05.

The FMCG index closed up 3.25% or 60.04 points at 1908.77.

The Healthcare gained 1.59% or 59.62 points at 3797.88.

The IT index surged 2.05% or 104.88 points at 5230.98.

The metal index moved up 1.93% or 167.33 points at 8844.96.

The Oil & Gas index ended up 1.83% or 114.47 points at 6382.48.

The NSE cash turnover was at Rs 9843.66 crore and the NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 35453.29 crore. The BSE cash turnover was Rs 4416.83 crore. Total market wide turnover was at Rs 49713.78 crore.
