Here's some good news and some bad for rail passengers. It is likely that second-class rail fares may not be hiked. However, AC travel is likely to be more expensive.

The Railway Budget for 2007-08 may leave the second-class train fare unchanged, but upper class AC and freight fares may be hiked, reports say. The railway minister may also introduce dozens of air-conditioned Garib Raths and allow a major role for private players in the modernisation and development of infrastructure for the railways.

If AC fares for train travel rise, would you prefer to fly or take trains? Do you think the Railways provides you with good facilities?

Should AC fares be hiked in the Railway Budget, especially when budget airlines offer tickets at ridiculously low rates? Tell us your views.
