Bharti Airtel Q4 net up at Rs 1,353 cr

India's leading private sector telecom services provider, Bharti Airtel on Friday reported a whopping 98 per cent net profit at Rs 1,353 crore (Rs 13.53 billion) for the fourth quarter ended March 31, compared to the same period last year.

The total revenue was up 58 per cent year-on year at Rs 5,393 crore (Rs 53.93 billion).

The company posted a EBIDTA of Rs 2,241 crore (Rs 22.41 billion), which is 75 per cent up year-on-year.

Bharti Airtel added the highest ever net addition of 53 lakh (5.3 million) customers in a single quarter.

Bharti Airtel posted a whopping 89 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 4,257 crore (Rs 42.57 billion) for the fiscal 2006-07 over 2005-06.

The total revenues of the company during the year was up 59 per cent year-on-year at Rs 18,520 crore (Rs 185.20 billion).

Bharti, the market leader with a share of all India wireless subscriber at 22.9 per cent posted an Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization (EBIDTA) of Rs 7,451 crore (Rs 74.51 billion), an increase of 72 per cent year-on-year.

The company added highest ever net addition of 1.8 crore (18 million) customers during the year.

Sunil Mittal CMD Bharti Airtel said, "This has been a year of accelerated growth and market leadership, the demand for telecom services across all segments remain buoyant and we believe this growth momentum can be sustained."

Bharti has a global customer base of 3.9 crore (39 million).
