Maharashtra is reeling under a severe power shortage, like many other states in India.

Considering this, it is almost impossible to believe that Maharashtra was a power surplus state not too long ago. With a shortfall of 5,000 MW of power, all cities in Maharashtra face up to six hours of power cut and rural areas are in the dark for 16 hours daily.
