Satyam Q2 PAT up at Rs 322 cr

IT major Satyam Computer Services Ltd [Get Quote] on Friday posted a 28.56 per cent increase in profit after tax at Rs 322.34 crore (Rs 3.22 billion) for the quarter ended September 30, as compared to Rs 250.72 crore (Rs 2.51 billion) for the corresponding quarter last year.

Total income rose 36 per cent to Rs 1565.84 crore (Rs 15.66 billion) for the second quarter in 2006-07 from Rs 1148.39 crore (RS 11.48 billion) for the same quarter a year-ago, the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The company also said that its board had recommended an interim dividend of Re 1 per equity share of Rs 2 (50 per cent) for the financial year 2006-07.

The group reported a consolidated profit after taxation (and share of loss in associate company & minority interest) of Rs 319.81 crore (Rs 3.2 billion) during Q2 this year against Rs 237.34 crore (Rs 2.37 billion) in Q2 last year.

Consolidated total income of the group stood at Rs 1630.11 crore (Rs 16.3 billion) for the second quarter during 2006-07 as compared to Rs 1186.52 crore (Rs 11.87 billion) during the same quarter in 2005-06.
