Nearly 50 pilots of Air Sahara are believed to have applied to Vijay Mallya-controlled Kingfisher Airlines seeking jobs. Air Sahara has 280 pilots on its rolls. In a media statement, Mallya said Kingfisher received several applications from Air Sahara."
However, we are yet to scrutinise them. No one has been appointed so far," he said. The applications follow two days after the Air Sahara pilots grounded the airlines.
The Air Sahara employees are believed to be under an impression that they would lose seniority and their salary would be reduced post the merger of the company with Jet Airways.
Air Sahara officials, when contacted, said they were in talks with the pilots to resolve the crisis.
Jet Airways, it may be mentioned, had announced that the Air Sahara employees would be absorbed into the merged entity only on a merit basis.
