Intensifying the telecom tariff war further, Tata Teleservices on Thursday offered lifetime validity on its pre-paid fixed wireless phone 'Walky' along with a lower rate for local calls at 90 paise for 3 minutes.

Terming it 'Walky Life,' Tatas have launched the service initially in Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

This comes with a one-time entry fee of Rs 3,200 and can be recharged with any existing recharge voucher starting from Rs 220 onwards.

"Walky Life offers the most economical home phone with local call rates as low as 90 paise per three minutes. Also national and international call rates provides a benefit of over 20 and 60 per cent compared to other wireless home phones," Tatas said in a statement.

Tata Teleservices claim to have over 58 per cent market share in the fixed wireless phone (FWP) category.
