April 20, 2006 16:55 IST

Government said on Thursday there was no fear of a stock bubble in the capital market as the benchmark sensex crossed 12,000 points for the first time.

"I don't think there is any bubble (in the stock market)," a top finance ministry official said.

The Sensex journey: From 1,000 to 12,000!

The market barometer ended above the 12k level on brisk buying in blue-chip stocks, including that of index heavy Reliance Industries and Tata Motors.
