November 30, 2004 15:27 IST
Reliance Infocomm Ltd has completed the conversion of its mobile subscriber numbers to a 10-digit format in 17 out of its total 20 circles, as mandated under the Unified Access Licence Regime.
Reliance IndiaMobile phones across the country, except in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar circles, have been converted to a 10-digit series, beginning with 93, Reliance Infocomm head (post-paid business) Inder Bajaj said in a release on Tuesday.
The new series would replace old RIM numbers in all circles, while the dual availability of numbers (Reliance was offering services on two numbers, the old and new numbers), would cease from December 1, 2004, it said.
Reliance Infocomm is also providing a toll free number (*388), return SMS facility and has put up a website to help customers in the migration process.
