The Apple iPod may have been an object of envy for a long time to those in India.
But now, they can pick it up online.
Fabmall.com will retail the iPod through its site. There will also be available a selection of iPod accessories such as the iPod dock, car power adapter, carry case, in-motion speakers and fire-wire cables. An iPod purchased at this site will be shipped and delivered within 7 days of the transaction.
"The online availability of the iPod and all the related accessories are certain to be hot gift items this season," says K Vaitheeswaran, chief operating officer, Fabmall.
The iPod has been a major hit in the US. The super-slim iPod is lighter than two CDs, can hold up to 10,000 songs, thousands of digital photos and can even work as a personal voice recorder. The 15GB, 20GB and 40GB Models are just over half an inch thick, and fits comfortably in the palm of your hand and slips easily into your pocket.
Apple has sold more than 3 million iPods since the product was introduced in 2001. The iPod also became a take off point for the company's iTunes music site where shoppers can legally download music for less than $1 per song.
In India, the iPod costs between Rs 22,500 and Rs 31,900 depending on the storage capacity of the device, the lowest being 15 GB and the highest for 40 GB.
