Wipro eyes Pak market for consumer products, IT

March 03, 2004 16:11 IST

Wipro chairman Azim Premji on Wednesday said the company would explore the Pakistan market for its range of products including consumer products and information technology.

"We will start looking at it (Pakistan market), and we will be sending a delegation there with some people from our company in the next three months," Premji told newspersons on the sidelines of a 'Made in Pakistan' exhibition organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, in New Delhi.

He said the company would aim at selling consumer products and hydraulic products.

Asked about the company's plans for Pakistan with regard to IT, he said, "Wipro would look at it a little later."

The Bangalore-based firm has diversified interests in consumer products and IT.

Premji, however, declined to comment on recent reports of his company taking over the management control of the Gurgaon-based Hughes Software saying, "I do not want to comment."
