September 03, 2003 18:09 IST

Automation software major Rockwell Automation will move its high-end integration work to the Bangalore application development centre, a senior company official said on Wednesday.

"The centre will move up towards taking jobs in integrated architecture and communications in the space of application development where it will be involved in developing solutions which would integrate different products and software," Scott Summerville, president, Asia Pacific, Rockwell Automation, told PTI in New Delhi.

The centre currently is involved in the improvement of product configuration and customer applications for the global customers of Rockwell. It is of tremendous commercial value, he said.

"We will continue to add people in the Bangalore centre as conditions warranted and on the basis of usage of that activity on a global basis," he said, adding India would continue to be in the application development space, remaining as a commercial centre.

"We are not considering India as an R&D centre," Summerville said. The centre has 15 engineers currently.

In the Asia Pacific region, China occupies a central role in the company's operation.

Rockwell India is eyeing growth in the range of 7-10 per cent in its in 2003-04 topline on the back of strong demand from manufacturing and utility sectors, FMCGs, oil and gas.
