Financial markets closed for Muharram holiday

March 14, 2003 14:48 IST

Most Indian markets, including stocks, money, foreign exchange and commodities are closed on Friday for Muharram holiday.

The Sensex bounced off a near four-month intra-day low on Thursday to end flat at 3,108 points, on expectations a strike on Iraq could be delayed.

The index was, however, down 1.3 per cent on the week, the third straight weekly decline. Trading resumes on Monday.

Bond yields nudged higher on Thursday ahead of the long weekend, with the 10-year benchmark 9.81 per cent bond at 6.3773 per cent against the previous close of 6.3610.

The rupee ended flat at 47.6550/6625 per dollar against Wednesday's 47.66.
