BS Bureau in Bangalore | June 21, 2003 12:00 IST

The promoters of Britannia Industries, Groupe Danone and the Wadia Group, have dismissed recent press reports suggesting that they had relationship issues with respect to their partnership in India. Both the companies have termed the reports "baseless".

In a joint press statement issued on Friday, the companies have expressed to all sections of the Indian media and other stakeholders that both Groupe Danone and the Wadia Group are committed and resolute in their partnership in India, which is reflected in the joint shareholding in Britannia Industries.

"It has always been and always will be the focus and aim of both Groupe Danone and the Wadia Group to contribute and jointly strengthen the Britannia business and brand in India in order to create stakeholder value," the companies said in a release.
