Jalan holds meeting with bank unions

Reserve Bank Governor Bimal Jalan on Monday held a meeting the bankmen's unions in order to address the problems faced by the bank employees in issuing clean currency notes to the public.

The meeting held at the request of the United Forum of Bank Unions on implementation of the RBI clean note policy, exchanged views on the difficulties faced by the bank staff and decided to coordinate with various authorities and agencies in supplying good clean notes to the members of the public.

Jalan emphasised that the banks should implement the clean note policy for the benefit of the customers. It was not intended to cause problem to the employees of the banking industry, he added.
