The Indian government has approved the visit of a Pakistani business delegation to India, which is meant to revive economic ties between the two countries and provide an impetus to diplomacy.

The ministry of external affairs has assured that India will grant visa to all Pakistani businessmen willing to join the delegation led by Senator and President of India-Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ilyas Ahmed Billour and Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry Riaz Ahmed Tata, a Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry release said in New Delhi on Monday.

The delegation, coming to India at the invitation of FICCI, will discuss during June 28-29 trade policy issues such as according MFN (most favoured nation) status to India by Pakistan, removing trade bottlenecks, facilitating informal trade and movement of goods, capital and people between the two countries, the release said.

The third meeting of India-Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, formed jointly by FICCI and FPCCI in 1999 after Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's bus ride to Lahore, will try to shore up the volume of trade between the two countries, which is less than one per cent of their global trade.
