Your Views:s:This is not the right time for revising rate. As such rent per month is Rs.250/- on the higher side. Further existance of BSNL is under threat by numerous other Parties and hence it is better not to disturb the rate now.

Your Views:s: Well, hike in Rental and call charges is completely unjustfied, but there should be interconnection charges made from fixed-line operators to the private cellular operators. As telephone nowdays is a basic necessity, low rental and call charges will ensure that public can afford telephone easily. At the same time those who make calls to cellurar line should pay for the connection charges. Interconnection charges for calls terminating at fixed line operators should be more as compared to tht payable by fixed line operators incase of calls terminating at cellular operators.WLL users should also pay interconnection charges for calls routed through fixed line operators teminating at cellular operators. There should be level playing field where every one is on the same platform. This will foster competetion and will ultimately be beneficial for end-users.This is very important keeping in mind huge FDI flowing in to this sector in india.

ON THE OTHER HAND, PEOPLE WHO MAKE LONGDISTANCE CALLS SHOULD FOOT THE COST OF THEIR CALLS- THE FARTHEST, OR LONGEST DURATION, THEY CALL, THEY HAVE TO PAY FOR THAT SERVICE. IT IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS TO HIKE THE COMMON MAN BASIC COSTS INCL OWNING A PHONE TO OFFSET THE RICH PEOPLE CALLING LONG DISTANCE-MOST RIDICULOUS /ABSURD..

Now a days all are using the Cell, and Mobitel not only in towns but also in villages. So they have to thing over it and what ever decision taken by the government or BSNL, it will not effect the middle class people. Now a days the middle class people are needadly wanted the phone. Your Views:s:It is important to hike the tariffs in accordance with providing value for money. Keeping the tariffs way too low is going to kill any new investment in the sector. Indian cell market is still 10 million and the fixed line market is just 45 million. We want to make sure that the huge untapped market is tapped but at the same time need to make sure that companies make reasonable money out of their business. If nobody is willing to invest, we will end with few companies which will turn become monoplies since nobody will see much value in investing in the market.

Your Views:s: Fixed line tariffs and installation cost were determined and paid when the hardware components were very expensive. In todays regimen, when hardware costs are relatively negligable,it would be patently wrong to penalise the hapless captive fixed line users in a face of between the fatcats of wireless technology phone service providers. On the contrary, the advance of technology should be leveraged to offer lower tariffs tofixed linephone subscribers. this should not be seen as case of "oliver asking for more".

As per the government the Competition bring down the cost of phone. so they should not hike the rent of fixed phone lines. If the government hike the phone rent its like once again hitting the middel class people. what they have done in the last budget.

Your Views:s:I strongly feel that there shouldn't be any increase in call and rental charges, if on cards they should also concentrate of giving more value added services like free CLIP, call forwarding, call diverting etc. However, marginally they could increase in STD charges (>200 kms). BSNL to change over to state of the art technology cabling and proper maintenance of exchanges.

Your Views:s:I don't think there is any fall in the revenue for fixed line operators as those using the mobile phones are also using their fixed line ones as phone has become a basic necessity in our day to day life.Ek din admi nahayega nahi lekin phone jarur karega. Infact the telecom authority should reduce the currently charged monthly rent and give more facility in free calls so as to servive in the current competition. They should also emphasise in the service they provide to the customers. Our working telephone lines mainly depends on the lineman of the area. Mainly he should not make mischiefs with our telephone lines such as purposely disconnecting the line and then asking for a bribe just to start the connection. Inshort after sale service is important.

Your Views:s:In no way the TRAI can increase the normal Fixed Line charges based on the pressure by Cell operators, since the Fixed lines are mostly used by the Middle class and lower middle class and it is going to affect these class people to a great extent. Where as the Cell phones used by the Bussines class and Upper class people, can spent so much of money to increase their comfortability and business. To give the comfortness for the Private cell operators TRAI should not increase basic need of the largely populated Middle class and cut down the cushioning. TRAI can suggest Bsnl to redefine its Cell tariff to competite with other private operator but not the Fixed Lines

Your Views:s:In my view, there should be no tariff increase for fixed line users, as they are the majority users.Infact they should be at half of the cost , from what they are currently paying. Also the pulse rate for a call should be changed from the current 180 seconds , to 15 seconds (ie 15 paise for 15 seconds)..

Your Views:s:It is being explained that the current move to increase the tariffs is to offset the lose recurred by the reduction of ISD rates last year. I wonder why the tariff is not based on the actual operating cost (for example expenditure it takes for a phone company to transfer the call from the caller to the called end). Look at the railways, which calculates the operating cost first (amount needed to operate a particular train in an area for one km) and uses this (among other considerations incl. political) for deciding fares. But the current move by TRAI penalises a section of public while charging lower tariff for other section. What is needed is a scientific approach rather than such half-baked policies. This increase might also affect cell phone and internet users apart from the landline users.

Your Views:s:The main objective of making telecommunication field open to private operators in India, was to have a decent competition between the operators, reduce the monopoly of the state own companies and to give the consumers a fair and dependable service at a low cost. Increase the rentals and charges now, just for the sake of increasing revenue to the operators is not justified. Those who feel they don't get revenues let not be in the field. Those who can manage at a low return giving high productivity and service remain. After all the fittest survive isn't it? Ananth.

Sation without direction.i feel the cellular companies are taking the public on a ride.they have wooed the foolish crowd towards their offers with all the Jamela stuff of free incoming and all that stuff and now they are going to burden the common man with the additional money they want just to increase their profit margins and keep them in high society standards.I feel the TRAI should step down and never indulge in anything like rthis kind trying to fix rates and tariffs because they donot stick to their word or commitment.I strongly feel that the supreme court should interfere and once and for all decide this is keeping in view the common man on the middle income group who must have got a fixed line installed in his house just to avoid going to the booth to make his call or only to keep in touch with his old parents who live somewhere in the remote rural area of this GREAYT INDIAN SUB CONTINENT. Please my dear political fellows stop this shit and start to think of the common man and his needs.

Your Views:s:No ! Not at all. Fixed tele lines are used by almost all common middle class people, and it has now become a very much neccesity, it is not a luxury item. In fact rate should be increased for the mobile phones which are used by a little higher class people, they can afford the rise but not the common man. The authorities should strictly not increase, but on the contary they should think of reducing the rates as in the case of mobile phones. They should not put this additional burden on the common people.

Your Views:s:This decision is just ridiculous. Just to facilitate some handful people who use cellular phones, TRAI is doing injustice by hiking the charges of fixed lines, which is used by a large number of people. Instead of giving some relief to the ordinary people by lowering the rentals of fixed lines, TRAI is hiking the rentals, dropping the pulse rate. There is no other word to describe the decision of TRAI but INJUSTICE.

By reducing the charges they can also reach to the new segment who still cannot afford the telephone connection. By increasing the tariffs they are not going to gain anything on a long term basis, also they can reduce their excess staff to increase their revenues.

This is needed , as in long term cross-subsidiSation of local calls from long-distance call revenue will result in in-efficient corporations. Also it des not make economic sense.

Any calls made to Mobile phones should be charged Re 2/- per three min i.e. Dould to land line call and that extra Re 1/- should be shared with Mobile operaters in agreed ratio. Summary of above suggestions:- RENT : 250 per month. FREE CALLs : zero. CALL Rate: Re 1/= per 3 min. single slab CALL to MOB : Re 2/= per 3 min extra Re 1/- Ratio to share : 40% fixed line & 60% to Mob opert. In my opinion this has NO BURDAN to subscriber in any way. CALL Rate: Re 1/= per 3 min. single slab CALL to MOB : Re 2/= per 3 min extra Re 1/- Ratio to share : 40% fixed line & 60% to Mob opert. In my opinion this has NO BURDAN to subscriber in any way. Your Views:s:No, tariffs for fixed line phones should not be hiked. People using fixed line phones are mostly from lower middle class who cannot afford another hike. Also, it doesn't make good business sense for fixed line service providers to bring their tariffs at par with that of cellular phones as most people would then migrate to cellular phones.
