Top-level reshuffle at KPMG India

Gautam Dalal, the chairman and chief executive of KPMG India, is being replaced by a three-member team from February 1, 2003.
The members of the team drawn from KPMG India are senior partner Vijay Malhotra, country managing partner Ian Gomes and chief operating officer Rupendra Singh. The team will be chaired by Malhotra.
Dalal will return to the United Kingdom office of KPMG in a 'significant global role,' a KPMG media release said on Tuesday.
"The firm is now of such a size that the responsibilities of leadership need to be spread more widely," Dalal said in the release.
Malhotra is an existing board member of KPMG India and has been involved with the professional services firm in India since its inception.
Based in Dubai, he is also a senior partner of the Lower Gulf practice of the firm. He will continue to hold the post, though he will devote a significant portion of his time to the Indian practice from February 1, the release said.
Gomes, currently a partner in the KPMG UK practice, has also been involved with the Indian arm since its inception.
He will be based at Mumbai and will concentrate on sales and the marketplace, lead the lines of business and be the ambassador of KPMG in India, the release added.
Singh will primarily be responsible for the delivery of client value by focusing on internal processes, the release said.
Commenting on the change, Gary Williams, chairman, India Advisory Board, KPMG, said: "Dalal has made a significant contribution to the dramatic growth and development of KPMG in India. The remarkable growth of the firm has continued during a time of unprecedented difficult and testing circumstances for the accounting profession and the wider commercial sphere both in India and worldwide."
