BSNL files new STD tariffs with TRAI

February 20, 2003 20:12 IST

Some good news may be in store for those making frequent domestic long distance calls as Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd has filed new STD tariffs with the telecom regulator TRAI.

Asked if BSNL proposed to reduce rates of STD services, BSNL chairman and managing director, Prithipal Singh said, "Yes, we are thinking of this but we will announce it after getting a clearance from TRAI."

Singh and other officials would not indicate the level of rate cut that BSNL has proposed.

At present, the long distance charges are pegged at Rs 9 per minute.
