StanChart to open 23 more branches in 2003

February 04, 2003 15:45 IST

To mark its 150th year of inception, Standard Chartered Bank would strengthen its presence in the country and open 23 new branches and 81 ATMs in this calendar year.

The international bank would open branches at Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Jaipur and Lucknow this week, a bank release said on Tuesday.

As part of its expansion plan, the bank would initially enter Bhopal, Baroda, Surat, Jalandhar, Secunderabad and Indore.

Later, it intends to strengthen its network in four metros and Bangalore by opening 13 more branches, the release said.

The bank has already received 13 branch licenses and has applied to RBI for others, it added.

Consumer banking regional head Vishu Ramachandran said the bank would offer a wide range of innovative products as disposable income in two-tier cities has increased.
