Vivek Paul gets more powers at Wipro

BS Bureau in Bangalore | February 01, 2003 09:59 IST

A 'cabinet reshuffle' of sorts has taken place in Wipro, the IT leader, resulting in 'more portfolios' for Vivek Paul, vice-chairman, sources said.

Vivek Paul will henceforth also be looking after Wipro HealthScience, the new business segment formed early last year to address the market for healthcare and life science IT.

This will be through T K Kurien, who takes over as president of Wipro HealthScience, reporting to him.

Kurien is currently chief executive of the telecom and internet service provider vertical in Wipro Technologies.

The changes have been necessitated by the departure of D A Prasanna, who was till now CEO of Wipro HealthScience.

Prasanna parts with Wipro 'amicably', with the company acknowledging his contributions over the years in Wipro GE and Wipro HealthScience.

Prasanna is joining the Manipal group with which he has interacted over the years while in Wipro GE.

He also has an interest in medical education and hospital services which are mainstream business areas for the Manipal group.
