December 13, 2003 14:55 IST

ICICI Bank on Saturday launched the Visa 'mini card', India's first miniature-sized payment card.

The ICICI Bank Visa mini card was 43 per cent smaller than the regular credit cards, the country's second largest bank said in a release.

The card would be a variant of the bank's international Sterling Gold card and it would have all the features of regular credit card like the name, expiry date and security features.

ICICI Bank executive director Chanda Kochhar said: "This card represents the first innovation in the product design of plastic cards in India."

Visa has successfully launched the mini cards in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan in mid-2003, and in the United States in mid-2002. A total of over 1 crore (10 million) such cards have been issued in these markets so far.
