BSNL gesture for Raksha Bandhan

August 11, 2003 17:46 IST

Union Minister for State for Communications Ashok Pradhan has said the government will provide 'substantial' relief under a special package, on basic and mobile phones of BSNL, being presented as gifts to sisters on Raksha Bandhan on Tuesday.

He told reporters that if anyone gifts a mobile phone to his sister on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, he would not have to pay any activation fee.

In addition, the subscriber would also get Rs 600 worth talk time free of cost, Pradhan said.

Similarly, if a brother gives a basic telephone service to his sister, he would neither have to pay installation fees nor registration fees, the minister said, adding that the customer would also be exempted from paying two months' rental.

However, this facility would be available on 'Raksha Bandhan' day only, Pradhan added.
