Two Nasscom groups to educate IT firms

April 08, 2003 16:04 IST

In a bid to promote awareness amongst Indian infotech companies, the National Association of Software and Services Companies on Tuesday said it would constitute two study groups to focus on various areas like taxation, labour laws, visa and work permit among others.

A domestic policy group would focus on issues related to service taxes, Data Protection Act and Indian Copyright Act.

The international group would address global policy issues like WTO, besides visa and work permit matters.

New Nasscom Chairman Som Mittal, who took over from former chairman Arun Kumar, said this on Tuesday while announcing Nasscom's agenda and initiatives for 2003-04.

Nasscom also announced appointment of Jerry Rao of Mphasis BSL as Vice Chairman for 2003-04.
