Your Views:It is not Gates who is generous, but it is our Indian politicians who are begging him. What Gates has given to India is just small piece of his wealth. Instead making fault with Gates, can we just look ahead use the money properly?

Your Views:Innocence of our politicians and single shot effort to become hi-tech and to catch masses eye balls and create vote bank, our politicians have left no stone overturned to welcome a Business Man. Individually we may respect Bill Gates and adore him of his effort and business sense. But our politicians have made a self respecting Indian ashamed of putting sunch a large country literly begging in front of Bill Jee. It seems that Indian Nation is bowing to Bill Gates not individuals. The inclination of our politicians towards big national and International business tycoons is not new. Reason is clear. Surely the donation of millions towards AIDS is acknowledged and thanked. But will it reach the real end-users will remain a mystery. Clearly one can see it as meticously crafted actions of Bill Gates who has a strong business sense which at one go creates a image of Mesiha and parallely does indirect marketing. This is probably the reason why he earns 15,000 Rs per second. Its a sorry state that we consider that only Microsoft technology is the ultimate and only technology available in this world to execute Bill Ji's Vision blind foldedly.Where do they fit in our system and life ?

Your Views:I believe his visit was totally business oriented and nothing else. He came in india to build its product brand, he is very well aware that india is an IT power so let's target it first. Why should a businessman donate such huge amount without any cause behind it.. It's a fact that every businessman has logic behind his move

Friendly interface and the support of it for other devices. Your Views:Here few reasons are there. 1.The first and main poinris, he is generous. 2.The second one is, as per US laws he may not give all his money to his children. 3.And final one is he might planned to get the sympathy from public to overcome the issues with the court and his opponent companies.

Your Views:Bill gates had made a contribution of $100 million to Aids prevention programme. This comes about as a surprise for some including me. Why would a person want to contribute that much wealth to some cause such as AIDS. Is AIDS really such a big problem as it is being made out to. US has already aided a lot for AIDS. INDIA is a key country for the US because is has institutions such as IIT, IIMS where students of top quality are being churned out for working in US. So India can be seen as a outsourcing centre. I would like to say Bill Gates is aiding to prevent its own downfall because if AIDS grows as an epidemic in INDIA, it wont give it required people to work and make it richer, bringing about its own downfall. A stable India is needed by the US and GATES for checking the ISLAMIC funadamentalism which is a big threat past 9/11. So there are more interests. Moreover GATES is grateful to INDIA for what its people has given to the company making it what it is today. This altruistic attempt to give back something to the people of INDIA should be appreciated.

As far as i understand, this will also add up to his business and check the downfall of various Microsoft products. All in all its well planned act which seems altruistic from outside but has many commercial purposes served internally. Hats off to his commercial mind.

Your Views:Why we cannot take generosity peacefully and gracefully! Let me get this LINUX bit out of the way. Indian developers are driven by the platform that is chosen by their customers who are mainly in US and Europe. We do not develop for Indian Markets…do we? Visual Basic popularity is driven by development for Indian Application for the Indian Markets? Why was JAVA so popular? To build application for the Indian market? Let us get rid on this fantasy we live in. Second claim that the Indian Government was tending to move to LINUX. Indian Government is not going to find one application developer for LINUX and only if US government shifts to LINUX we will have LINUX applications in India. So Indian government moving to LINUX is just good newspaper stuff we all know it can never happen in reality. Let us not put undue importance to the India IT industry and extrapolate like NASSCHOM does which is remarkably off the mark. It is really sad

Your Views:Being a human being, Bill Gates should be well appreciated for his noble gesture. But the primary motive of the Monopoly is to capture the wide Indian market. This is what he is eyeing for. If he had started a foundation wherein he brought out the talent of Indians to the outside world it would have been good for India. Like a daily in Hyderabad put it as "Bill to Bill" would sum up his entire business motive. In the race we would be loosing a lot of our Sameer Batias. :-)

Your Views:There are two aspects of Gates that should be appreciated. Firstly, his $100MM donation and secondly, his marketing savvy to use his image and PR to Microsoft's benefit. It is a classic example of how businesses contribute to causes that result in direct/indirect benefit to its financial cause. Does this mean that Gates is an evil man with a hidden agenda? No, not at all. His generocity should be appreciated and encouraged. The Indian software industry is savvy enough to choose platforms that are ideal and cost effective. They do not fall into the marketing gimmicks and choose a platform that helps the bottom line. So if Linux is cheap and effective they will continue to choose Linux. However, it is the politicians that can fall in the PR trap. Each of them take pride in associating themselves with Bill Gates and sign up IT deals that may / may not be the ideal choice.

If the social cause does not benefit a business , no organisation will come forward. Yes, he has developed mind share, through this excercise, but nothing wrong in it. He may have business agenda out of Rs 2000 Cr, but how many are doing it in India or for that matter globally

Let us see how much he time he spent on charity in india with his business followup & shunting out Linux. Your Views:It is purely a PR exercise for his company (Microsoft), It was evident from Bill's eagerness to show Tablet PC to people attending his programs. It's a shame that our representatives (President, Prime Minister and some Chief Ministers like Naidu) give so much importance to a businessman and even set aside official protocol. (Naidu was moving around like a pet as long as Bill Gates was in Hyderabad. So much so that Naidu even forgot it was children's day and he is supposed to garland Jawahar lal's statue!)

Your Views:Mr.Gates cannot afford to ignore Indian market, esp when there is an onslaught by Linux. The perceived "genorisity" is nothing but to keep the mandarins in New Delhi happy and make them feel that their 'begging bowls" is not returned empty. Let's not forget that Mr.Gates is a professional American businessman and nothing comes "free" from his country. By granting USD 100 Million as "Aids" (out of a few 10s of billions of his personal wealth), Mr.Gates knows to extract his pound of flesh in return in the form of sale of MS Systems and products (over Linux)in India. We Indians are making a mockery of ourselves by stooping low to accept this "tips". I am confident that Indian corporates and the honchos can easily pool at least USD 100 Million (if not more!) for a good cause.

Your Views:It was about both! Business cum charity! Or Bill could've posted his cheque, sitting in the States? If I was in his place I would've also taken this opportunity to visit a nation that is hitting the headlines, to make my own. The Biblical adage of not letting your right hand know what your left is doing, has no significance today, because crime and villains dominate the news. So, when a good deed like this takes place, it should hog the headlines, as it rightfully did. Also, the headlines helped, because Bill was here on a business trip, not on a charitable one. The charity was only by the way. An act nonetheless, knowing his position, that would attract more attention than if he had to launch a new product. I am sure the AIDS topic took up more editorial space than the tablet did. In conclusion, as for the true motive behind the act of generosity, who are we to sit in judgement? Only God is qualified for that. Take people at face value. If you begin to doubt a person's integrity, there is no end to it and you'll end up as one cynical dude. I usually do not, but in this case I prefer to believe, that the motive justified the end!
