I&B ministry likely to axe 1300 posts

More than 1,300 posts have been identified in the information and broadcasting ministry, which can be abolished, Lok Sabha was informed on Thursday.

It has been decided to rationalise staff structure without in any way impinging on the functioning of various units, for which 1,334 posts have been identified, Information and Broadcasting Minister Sushma Swaraj said in a written reply.

Expenditure Reforms Committee had recommended winding up of several units of the ministry including the Films Division, Directorate of Film Festivals, Photo Division and Publications Division and downsizing the ministry.
