Shishir noncommittal on Bajaj split

Shishir Bajaj, younger brother of Rahul Bajaj, chairman Bajaj Auto Ltd, said on Wednesday that he would like to "assess the turn of events that had taken place" before reacting to the news of his possible separation from the family.

A day after he returned from abroad, Shishir, who has expressed a desire to "part ways with the family," said in a brief signed statement here that "it pains me that our personal and family problems have been dragged out into the open."

Expressing anguish at "one-sided media reports full of inaccuracies and innuendoes accusing him of breaking the family," Shishir said "under the circumstances, first and foremost I would like to assess comprehensively the turn of events that have taken place and only after that I will interact with the media in due course."

Shishir manages Bajaj Hindustan, Bajaj Sevashram and Ayurvedashram Pharmacy.

Last week, Rahul Bajaj had admitted a near "split" within his family, but was confident that it would be "avoided" after a detailed discussion with Shishir.
