Ex-Zee CEO Vijay Jindal to launch channel

Shuchi Bansal in New Delhi

Former Zee Telefilms managing director & chief executive officer, Vijay G Jindal plans to launch a satellite television channel and is tapping the investment market for the purpose.

"Yes, I do plan to set up a media network," he said. During Jindal's four year stint with Zee, from 1996 to 2000, the company's market capitalisation zoomed from Rs 1.80 billion to Rs 650 billion.

However, when he quit Zee an exit clause restricted him from joining or starting a competing television channel.

Now that the cool-off period is over, the 44-year-old media marketing expert is talking to several players for setting up a television business.
