Hutchison aims 2 million costomers, national pricing

December 16, 2002 15:51 IST

Hutchison Telecom is confident of reaching two million customers by December 2002, according Hutchison Telecom East Ltd Managing Director Asim Ghosh.

Ghosh told reporters in Kolkata Monday that the company is moving towards a national pricing policy in keeping with the demands of long-term market dynamics.

The mobile telephony service provider also launched its common brand platform 'Hutch' for the entire region in its efforts to consolidate and build a combined platform for its customers.

"We are very close to achieving the two million customer base target within the stipulated time. The latest figures show that we have about 1.96 million customers," Ghosh said.

The company also introduced 'Hutch Share' that offers savings up to 50 per cent for the outgoing calls between the two designated Hutch members.

The nominated Hutch user would also get a benefit of free airtime of 5 per cent of the primary user's local airtime amount, the company said.

Ghosh said the telecom service provider holds about 20 per cent market share.
