NIIT, M&M to exit BSE 30-share indexComputer education and software services firm NIIT Ltd and tractor and utility maker Mahindra & Mahindra will drop out of the Bombay Stock Exchange 30-share index from January 7, 2002. In a notice to members, the exchange said its index committee had decided to include infotech firm HCL Technologies and motor-cycle major Hero Honda in the benchmark exchange index instead. It gave no reason for the changes. The notice also said state-run gas marketing firm Gas Authority of India will replace consumer electronics maker BPL Ltd in the BSE-100 index.
