Maharashtra govt gives Rs 1.14-billion cheque to Enron

US energy major Enron has received a cheque for Rs 1.14 billion from Maharashtra government, a company spokesman said.

"We are pleased that the government has provided for the Maharashtra State Electricity Board to clear outstanding payment for the Dabhol Power Corporation for October, 2000," he said.

"We look forward to working closely with the government to resolve in timely manner the outstanding for November 2000 which is Rs 1.48 billion," he added.
