SSI Ltd in education alliance with Oracle

Indian computer education and software firm SSI Ltd, one of the first IT training companies to offer Oracle platform training in India, said it had entered a software education alliance with Oracle Software India Ltd.

Under the deal, Oracle will provide licensed software and upgrades to all SSI centres and co-sign all certificates for Oracle foundation modules and Java developer programs, SSI said in a statement released late on Thursday.

Oracle Software India (OSI) is a subsidiary of US-based Oracle Corp and markets the complete range of its parent's products in India.

"This alliance strengthens our commitment to partner with industry leaders to add value to each of our services," SSI's chairman and chief executive officer Kalpathi Suresh, said.

Late last year, SSI wrapped up a cash-and-stock acquisition valued at $63.65 million of US-based technology firm AlbionOrion LLC. It was the largest cross-border takeover by an Indian firm to date.
