India among most attractive emerging markets investment destinations: A T Kearney

A study by A T Kearney consulting firm has listed India, China, Mexico and Brazil as the "most attractive" emerging-markets investment destinations.

In the wake of the US economic slowdown, international businesses are once again looking at developing countries as possible sites for new plants and acquisitions.

Kearney came to these conclusions after surveying 135 top executives of important international companies.

The findings could not have come at a better time for India where Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) have been stagnant at around $3 billion a year. It also came just a couple of weeks before the 2001-02 Union Budget, which is being keenly awaited by foreign investors to for the "right signals".

More than 30 per cent of the chief executives and other senior company officials are optimistic about investment prospects in India and China.

Almost a third of the executives feel that way about Mexico also, with Brazil getting the thumbs up from 27 per cent of the bigwigs in the international corporate world.
