Two units shut at Indian Oil refinery

The crude distillation unit and the vacuum distillation unit at Indian Oil Corp's Mathura refinery have been shut down after a minor fire in the vacuum gas oil unit, a company official said on Monday. "The CDU/VDU is shut since Sunday because of a fire in the VGO pump. It may take four to five days before they get restarted," the official, who did not want to be identified, said.

The secondary units, including the hydrocracker, are running normally, he added.

The 7.5 million tonne refinery, which runs on single CDU and VDU, largely feeds Uttar Pradesh and Delhi states.

Its hydrocracker was idled for a few days last month by a shutdown of its hydrogen generation unit.
