Redmi has introduced a new entry-level smartphone in India that closely mirrors the design of the iPhone 16. Named the Redmi A5, this device comes with an attractive price tag of ₹6,499 and will hit the shelves April 16.
The Redmi A5 comes in two memory variants: one featuring 3GB RAM with 64GB internal space, and another offering 4GB RAM paired with 128GB, priced at ₹7,499. Impressively, users can boost the RAM virtually up to 8GB, and the storage is expandable up to a massive 2TB.
This budget-friendly handset is equipped with a large 6.88-inch HD+ screen that includes a dewdrop-style notch. It offers a smooth 120Hz refresh rate along with a 240Hz touch response rate.
This device is powered by a robust 5,200mAh battery, ensuring extended usage throughout the day on a single charge. It also supports 15W fast charging via a USB Type-C port, allowing for quicker and more convenient recharging compared to traditional micro-USB alternatives.
The Redmi promises operating system upgrades for a duration of two years and will provide security patches for up to four years, allowing use of this phone for longer period.
This handset comes with an IP52 rating for protection against water splashes and dust, and also features a fingerprint scanner integrated into the side for added security.
The device is available at major retail stores, and customers can select from three colour options: Jaisalmer Gold, Just Black, and Puducherry Blue.
