Paneer Cutlets: 20-Min Recipe

Much-loved paneer takes centre stage in this jhatpat, yum snack. After spicing them up, Reshma Aslam shapes them into patties and fries till golden.

Ingredients

  • ¼ kg grated paneer
  • ½ cup finely chopped capsicum
  • 6-7 green chillies, finely chopped

  • 3-4 cheese cubes, grated
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 tsp black pepper powder

  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Salt to taste, about 1½ tsp + Pinch for the batter

  • ½ cup corn flour + water for a slurry
  • 2 tsp roasted ground masala of red chillies, fennel, coriander seeds, cumin seeds

Method

  • In a bowl, mix the grated paneer with salt, black pepper powder, roasted masala, capsicum, green chillies, onions.
    Mix well and then mix in the grated cheese.

  • Make small tikkis from the mixture and refrigerate.
    Make a slurry/batter of the corn flour, salt, water in a bowl.
    Spread the breadcrumbs in a plate.

  • Heat the oil in a pan.
    Dip each tikki in the corn flour batter and roll in the bread crumbs.
    Deep fry until golden brown and serve hot with green chutney or red sauce; Serves 3-4.
