We bring you the results of a poll conducted by US website CouponCodes4u.com, which quizzed parents as to which famous personalities they think negatively influence their children.

In the following pages is a list of male and female celebrities who were voted as the worst celebrity role models in a survey conducted by CouponCodes4u.com.

The website quizzed 2,407 American parents with at least one child over the age of eight as to who they thought cultivated the worst image. Respondents based their opinions on various criteria, such as the inability to make positive life choices, lack of real talent and oversexualised portrayals in the media, according to the Daily Mail.

1. Miley Cyrus

In first place we have the former Disney child star who, in a bid to project a more adult image, has taken to wearing skimpy outfits, giving provocative performances and has just released a new expletive-riddled new single that allegedly refers to drug use.

Among the male stars it was Rihanna's ex, charged with physically assaulting her in 2009, who was voted worst celeb role model. The R&B bad boy also has a reputation for his nasty temper and was involved in a nightclub brawl last year.

The troubled actress, who is currently in rehab battling drug issues, has had several run-ins with the law for drunk driving, substance abuse, shoplifting and violating probation.

It's no secret that the hugely successful but sullen rapper has a huge ego and has a habit of stirring up controversies, putting him in second place alongside LiLo.

Joining rapper beau West on the list is the self-promoting reality star, who rose to fame after a sex tape of her went public.

The young pop megastar is acquiring a mega reputation as a brat with a major attitude problem. His tour bus in Sweden was raided for drugs in April and more recently, he's been accused of reckless driving.

The troubled actress' problems started last year, with legal run-ins for driving under the influence and hit-and-run incidents. Lately she has taken to posting controversial tweets targeting fellow celebs, has shaved half her head, estranged herself from her family and undergone plastic surgery. Bynes has even been to hospital for a mental health evaluation.

The heavily tattoed rapper has come under a lot of fire for being filmed trampling the American flag while shooting a music video last week. And he's also been in trouble with the law at various times in the last few years for illegal possession of drugs and weapons, been embroiled in music rights lawsuits and feuds with other rap artists.

In at five is the star of reality show Teen Mom. Originally an aspiring model, Abraham made her foray into the adult entertainment industry with a sex tape last month and has been in the news recently for feuding with Charlie Sheen and undergoing breast enhancement surgery.

Ironically, Abraham's nemesis joins her in fifth place. Never one to keep away from controversy too long, the bad boy actor's most recent headline-grabbing antics include allegedly sending Abraham an expletive-ridden text for sharing their communications with the press and firing firing co-star Selma Blair from his sitcom Anger Management.

The Barbadian songstress, given to flashing the flesh, performing provocatively on stage, and posting sexually overt images to her Twitter and Instagram accounts, joins her on-off boyfriend on the CouponCodes4u list, although she is rated much lower at six.

The disgraced former cyclist, who sensationally admitted to illegal steroid use in the course of his sporting career, joins RiRi in sixth spot.

Another pop diva who dresses ridiculously, stays in the headlines with controversial songs (Die Young) and statements (she recently said she drinks her own urine), Ke$ha was voted seventh-worst role model.

His philandering ways ended his marriage in 2010 and nearly trainwrecked his career. Although it's been nearly three years since and the sportsman has put the murky business behind him to make a fresh start, public memory apparently isn't that short.

Kim Kardashian's sister, who stars alongside her in their family reality show comes in eighth. Kourtney is likely on the list for having two children out of wedlock, insisting that she doesn't need to marry, and airing intimate details of her private life (including the birth of her daughter) to a TV audience along with the rest of her family on Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

Rumoured to have one of the worst tempers in Hollywood, it's hardly surprising to see Gibson at eight. He's grabbed attention for not one but several wrong reasons over the years -- accusations of homophobia, anti-Semitism, racism, domestic violence, alcohol-related misdemeanours...the list runs rather long.

The reality star and her husband will do anything for publicity -- including faking trouble in their marriage -- which is mainly why they don't receive much of it anymore. Montag's biggest claim to fame is her obsession with plastic surgery -- she once underwent 10 procedures in one day, but now claims to regret it.

It's a bit of a mystery as to why the rap mogul is considered a bad role model. A fiercely private star who never courts unnecessary publicity, Jay-Z is also a doting father himself. Maybe it's some of his high-flying lyrics that haven't gone down well with parents -- 53 per cent of those polled said arrogance was a deciding factor.

The goth-loving singer and actress hasn't exactly cultivated a child-friendly image despite her own tender years -- Momsen is only 19, but has quite a provocative reputation.

And finally we have Kim Kardashian's stepfather rounding off the top 10 for the men. Bruce Jenner doesn't share his extended family's surname, but he can't escape the criticism associated with all things Kardashian!
