Priced under Rs 5 lakh, the bike will hit Indian roads in June, says Faisal Ali Khan.
Harley-Davidson will unveil the Street 750 motorcycle at the India Bike Week 2014 in Goa scheduled between January 17 and 18. This entry-level cruiser will go on sale in India next month after it's launched at the 2014 Auto Expo.
The Harley-Davidson Street 750 will be priced under Rs 5 lakh (on-road) and bookings will start post launch. Deliveries of the bike will commence from June.
The Harley-Davidson Street 750 is powered by a 749cc, V-twin, liquid-cooled engine which should produce around 40 horses.
The Street 750 uses a 6-speed gearbox and is based on an all new platform which has entailed a huge investment.
The Street series is the first all-new platform for Harley-Davidson in the past 12 years. The Street 500 which uses a 494cc, V-twin engine will be launched in India next year.
The Harley-Davidson Street 750 has been designed for the urban environment and thus it's easy to ride even in congested cities. The vehicle is being manufactured in India, making India the only place outside of the US where Harley-Davidson has a manufacturing subsidiary.
Local production helps the company in pricing the bike aggressively.
The Harley-Davidson Street 750 has no real competition right now. The company is looking at selling this motorcycle the world over as the American automaker doesn't make market specific bikes.
The Street 750 is sure to bring new buyers to the Harley-Davidson brand, which already has a cult following the world over.
